(Ok, I'm not really a witch, but I probably would have been burned at the stake in 17th century Salem.
I am a big fan of midwifery, pirates, and eating a peck of dirt before you die.)

So, this is how it is...

So, this is my latest "for me" progress...

And this is the latest commission for a sweet baby girl.
This is how my hometown celebrates Christmas...
And this is the devilish way my family decorates the tree...
That's Krampus.  Look him up.
He's fascinating....

I am loving the blizzards and the snow days and
the extra time up on the Cape and the time back in my studio.
Even if it is freaking cold.
Stay safe all.

Lately...

Pretty cool, right?
This pic shows the first "draft" of the layout.
It's much better now.
I've started quilting it, and I think it's gonna be so very cool.
Did I mention it is KING sized?

more on this, and other developments, soon....

(nearly) Wordless Wednesday

In which a girl
(and her remarkable sister)
returns to Idaho,
and then, upon coming home,
is reunited with the many sweetness' in her Life...

Clean Laundry

What is it about clean laundry,
freshly put out on the line
that makes me want to live like
Laura Ingalls Wilder?
Y'know,
Like, out on the prairie, or in the Mountains?
I've just returned from this year's week
in Idaho.
And I'm feeling fresh...
Did I mention I just spent a week in
Idaho?
it occurred to me that I would like
nothing more
than to spend my days
in Idaho
quilting, letting my children ride horses
breathing the freshest of air.
I did just (last week) return from said
Idaho
and I am unemployed and reminiscent.
 But, then, I must remember.
I also have many other joys.
Other than Idaho.
The crazy Joys of my life.
Bear with me as I remind myself.
Welcome.
No big deal.
Artistic brilliance.
Perspective.
Blue.
Trust.
What's Real.
Joy.
Say No More.
Clambake.
Harvest.
 From blue eggs...

Did I mention I just spent a week in
Idaho?
Same as the brilliance here.
Mostly,.....

Trying....

So, I'm trying.
Trying to finish up this commission
For my dear, dear sister-in-law.
She asked me if I could be done by the beginning of Summer.
I failed.
I tried. And I made progress.
But I did not finish before summer began.
But, look! I've made a bunch of these!
they will be united into a sisterhood of Wonderness!!
I have 19, so far.  I need 25 at least.
(It's taken longer than I thought)
Keep trying....

Latest...

So I've been working on this quilt for my sister-in-law.
A version of this:
It is from The Modern Quilting Bee's
I've been playing with this pattern a lot,
even before getting this book.
One of my first "modern" quilts was a "confetti"
or "tickertape" design.
Thanks to Crazymom for showing me the way of this fun,
always original design.
Hey, but now I'm working on this

Which will turn out to be a version of this
only with this
Btw, I also just got this
So I expect to be doing a lot more with this
and this
in hopes of making new wonders.
I love input.  Lemme know what ideas you have...

Long Time.....

No see...

And yet, I've seen so much!!  I'm gonna try to get back to this blogging thang.   It's tough for this Cancerian folk!  Here goes.

Just a few great shots from the last year...
First Potato Harvest.
 Rain delay at T.Swift Concert.

 Best Prop Ever for Summerstage.
"Ring of Eternal Stones/Thunderhead of Breath/Magic Pool of Sacredness/Jason"
What happens when you f*** with Fire.
Even if you are 14 years old.
 Harvest 1.
Son plus fire: can't believe it...
 Daughter = beautiful
 Surprise Clam Bake!
Make Out with the Lobster - of course!
The SECOND batch of baby robins!
 Every grandchild!
It's been a good year, all told.
But.   Truth be Told:
I've been away so long because it has actually been a
Very Hard Year.
I've lost a very dear friend, more than a friend,
my dearest Ceal.
She fought cancer for 10+ years, and Lived every moment above it.
She held my father in the healing light while he (and she!) was sick.
She sent me birthday cards made from recycled images.
She knew the names of my cats.
She did a thrillion things more than that during the 20+ years I knew her
but one can only admire so much at a time.
I miss her so.
But:  This is the Wonderfully Ironic thing about Ceal and my Work:
She loved my quilting,
and yet,
had Fear of Craft.
I made this not long after Ceal died.
It generated a lot of strength, gave me, and I hope others
the will to shine on, even without her.
This is a commission.  A Compass Rose.  It shows the Way.
I hope we can all look for the Way.
It is elusive. But worth it.

Sorry to be away so long.
Please join me on our next adventure!
